The Artist and The Inspiration

Meet the Artist
The Artist
As a young girl growing up in central Texas, I was passionate about the cello, and I played in many of the local symphonies and orchestras. Later, I developed a love for the textures, flows, and colors of fabric. I started designing and sewing clothes as well as creating fabric elements for interior design.

Both of these artistic outlets gave me an appreciation for the natural flow of all things in nature as well as my participation in it.
I moved to Florida in 2005 and never looked back. It was here in the Tampa Bay area that I found numerous influences while exploring the rivers and springs of this state's natural resources by way of my kayak.
It was also this time that I started my journey in glass. I delved into the artistic side of glass. During the learning process, I found both the science and the math of glass to be equally as compelling as the art of glass. My art now integrates both the natural and scientific sides of this wonderful medium.
The Medium
My love of glass started at a very early age. I love the play of light and glass and how glass can catch the flow of a liquid, yet be solid to the touch. Once I started learning about the textures and flows of modern art glass, I also discovered the level of science and reactive properties of the glass.
A number of my pieces have visual texture, physical texture, or a bit of both. I have also added fine silver or copper to my pieces to create some reactions in the glass which is a beautiful addition in the glass.
The Learning Process
I have been fortunate to have studied under some of the best of the industry both in person as well as online. The assistance I get from the online communities has also been awesome. Artists are fun!
